Keck Lab COVID-19 Safety Protocols

Wipe down equipment and working surfaces with IPA before and after use.

Reservations are required for all equipment

Metrology Lab
  • Use gloves as you normally would.
  • Upon being returned, borrowed instruments need to be wiped down with an IPA-moistened wiper (working around any tags) and then stowed in their usual place.
Clean Room
  • Gowns will no longer be shared; each user will have their own. They will be stored in name-labeled plastic bins in the HEPA cabinet. They will not be laundered, so anticipate having to replace yours over time.
  • Safety glasses will no longer be shared. One will be issued to you. Keep it in your project box or with your gown in the garment box. Emergency/Guest glasses will be available in the gowning room, but should be wiped with IPA before and after use.
  • All items being brought in from outside the clean room must be wiped down with IPA on the stainless shelf top in the gowning room.
  • As usual, don gloves first and hair cover next. Masks are required and users with facial hair may use a disposable mask in lieu of a beard cover. It is preferred that washable cloth masks not be brought into the clean room unless they are made entirely of polyester and that a beard cover be used over cloth face masks to reduce particle contamination.
Chemistry and Dicing Lab (X110)
  • Wipe down entry keypad and door handle with IPA and wipes provided at the point of entry.
  • Discard gloves before leaving the room.
  • Leave light switch on as the lights will go off automatically when no motion is detected and go on again automatically when someone enters the room.
